“It’s Hard to be a Saint in the City” is a collection of prints by Master Printer Scott Lenaway, a Veteran and graduate the Masters of Fine Art program at Colorado State University. As a collection, these prints are not made for those with uncalloused hands, rather they are a conversation between a craftsman and his people. In the words of Robert Henri- “it is art made for life’s sake.” They come together to tell a story about the everyday reciprocal nature of craftsman and environment. The ability of a craftsman to thrive unfettered and secluded away from the academic eye requires a fealty to work ethic and vigilant integrity to the nature of the media. Work that is also informed by the very real world around the craftsman. Subjects that are considered prosaic are exposed with iconic reverence and gritty honesty.
